Nanoplasty vs Keratin — What’s the Difference?
Both nanoplasty and keratin treatments smooth and tame frizzy hair, but they work differently and deliver different results. Here’s what you need to know before booking.
Nanoplasty
Nanoplasty is the more advanced of the two treatments. It works by infusing nano-sized particles deep into the hair shaft, restructuring the hair from within. The result is smoother, straighter, healthier-looking hair with improved shine and reduced frizz.
Key benefits:
• Deeply conditions and strengthens the hair
• Eliminates frizz and reduces curl
• Results last 4 to 6 months
• Safe for colour-treated and chemically processed hair
• Free from harsh chemicals like formaldehyde
Important to know: results depend on your natural curl pattern. Very curly hair may soften to a wave in the first treatment, with further reduction after a second treatment within 6 months. You may also notice regrowth if you have naturally curly hair as your hair grows. Colour should be done at least 2 weeks before or 2 weeks after your nanoplasty appointment.
Aftercare: There is no downtime with nanoplasty. You can wash, curl, tie your hair up and resume all normal activities immediately after your treatment.
To maximise and maintain your results we recommend using a sulphate free, salon quality shampoo and conditioner.
Keratin Treatment
Keratin treatments coat the outside of the hair with a keratin protein layer, sealing the cuticle and eliminating frizz. The result is smooth, shiny, manageable hair that is easier to style every day.
Key benefits:
-
Smooths and seals the hair cuticle
-
Reduces frizz and styling time
-
Results last 2 to 4 months
-
Adds softness and shine
-
Suitable for most hair types
-
Treatment time: 2 to 3.5 hours
Important to know: keratin treatments smooth and manage frizz rather than restructuring the hair. They are an excellent option for maintaining smoothness between nanoplasty treatments.
Aftercare: After a keratin treatment you must wait 72 hours before washing your hair, tying it up, or exposing it to any moisture. A shower cap must be worn in the shower during this period. To maximise and maintain your results we recommend using a sulphate free, salon quality shampoo and conditioner.
Which one is right for you?
If you have thick, curly, or very frizzy hair and want longer-lasting results with deeper conditioning, nanoplasty is the recommended choice.
If you want smoother, more manageable hair with less commitment, or want to maintain your results between nanoplasty appointments, keratin is a great option.
